Wine

This year we are waiting for harvest which will probably occur close to the end of October. If everything falls into place, Neal and Kris will be making our first wine under the Utz Winery label in the winery we have on property and it will be available for purchase in 2013 for the Pinot noir and summer of 2012 for the chardonnay.

Watch for details as the adventure continues up on our hill.

2007

This inaugural vintage is sold out. It was a delicate, feminine, food friendly wine which we found to be especially good with slow roasted salmon.

2008

Released in spring of 2011, there are 175 cases left out of 194. Our second vintage is earthy, influenced by the Jory soil of the Dundee Hills but also balanced against dark fruit with cherry undertones. We see it as a very traditional Oregon Pinot noir which pairs well with roasted mushrooms deglazed in Sherry, duck breast with mild cherry chutney, or braised lamb shanks with a shaving of Oregon black truffles.

2009

Not released yet…, 250 cases still being cellared, but this will be the year to enjoy an Oregon Pinot with a New York steak…It is a beautiful and very unique vintage, slutty, giving everything up right away, not delicate but in your face with nothing hidden. A wine for now, a wine for the moment, with or without food so watch for this one’s release as there has not been a single person who has not loved this wine after tasting it.

2010

Still in the barrel at the winemaker’s winery…the family will be barrel sampling this wine in early November. We can’t wait!
